Interview with
engineer Ahmad
Al Wahshi
Engineer Ahmad Al Wahshi’s full name
is Ahmad SalemAl Wahshi, and he was
born in 1990/1/13. He graduated from
UAE University, department of Civil and
Environmental Engineering. Having a
family of five brothers and three sisters,
and being the elder among the male
children, he assumed an important role
in the family as a role model and one
in charge of his younger brothers and
sisters.
In Al Ain Distribution
Company
I joined AADC in 2013/10/1 as an
operation andmaintenance engineer
in the Water Sector.
A passion for study
Due to the nature of my university civil
engineering studies, I always had a
passion for knowledge about the latest
methods construction. Such a passion
is enforced by my graduation project that
revolved around multi-storey buildings,
knowing that the motive for conducting
such a project was my quest for the best
materials employed and in the meantime
the most cost-effective ones.
Programsandinformation
In my work field, there are many
programs that are employed, including
for instance GIS and MAXIMO, which
help in identifying the condition of the
company assets, determining the stock
for each asset that essentially serve our
work.
A turning point
Each one of us goes through
situations and events that bring
about a radical or partial change in
his life. For me, the turning point in
my life was when I joined College of
Engineering, knowing that the irony
was that my High School grades
were below the requirements for
application to the college, and in turn
I was admitted to the Information
Technology College. Yet, I did not
give in or let my dream shatter, and
therefore I carried out a daring,
serious and forceful attempt by
addressing the university president
and explaining to him that I request
shifting to Engineering College
to fulfill my dream of being one of
the UAE engineers and serving my
dear country in the best possible
manner. Since this dream can only
be fulfilled through my work in the
field of engineering, the turning point
was when the university president
approved of my request, giving me
the chance to start working on my
dream.
Conferences and exhibitions
I was nominated by the Water Sector
to participate in numerous exhibitions
and events as a representative of the
company, such as in the WaterWorld
Middle East, held in Dubai
International Exhibition Center, and
also in the events of the World Water
Day, held in Al Bawadi Mall.
AADCProjects
Isuperviseanumberofprojectsclassified
under development and replacement
of water networks and household
connections in Al Ain. I am also working
on the writing of a Procedure proposal
for a water Shutdown program in
coordination with Project Completion
Sector. This is meant for the step taken
to be officially recorded since there are
several ways of water shutdown, due to
either maintenance (in case of broken
hoses) or installment of a new extension
in the network, which is mostly carried
out by an AADC certified contractor. The
who idea of my proposal was meant to
simplify such issues.
Talents andHobbies
Besides being an engineer who always
seekstoacquireprofessionalknowledge,
I care to develop my good relationship
with individuals and win the approval of
the largest possible number of people
around, be they colleagues or clients.
This is one of my main approaches in
life, for a good word makes me earn the
respect of others. On the other hand, I
love football, which is a major source of
my joy, and also tennis.

The youth are the future of this
homeland; that is what we were taught
by our spiritual father H.E. Sheikh
Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may Allah
showmercy to him). He also implanted
in us the love of our homeland and
the desire to make it among the best
countries in the world, in all fields.
Such instruction bred within me the
motive to pursue the objectives of our
judicious leadership.
I thus hope that the youth keep
pursuing education and gaining higher
studies in their respective fields, as
it is through knowledge that nations
attain sublimity. They should also work
on maintaining the vested rights of
this homeland, including welfare and
decent life for subjects by dent of the
wise leadership of H.E. our spiritual
father, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al
Nahyan (may Allah safeguard him),
who has made as his motto constant
serving of our dear country.
