Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Distribution Companies have signed cooperation agreements with the Industrial Development Bureau of the Department of Economic Development with the aim of promoting efficient energy consumption across all industrial facilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This initiative is designed to enhance the competitiveness of this growing sector of the economy and to attract further investments in the industrial sector, continuing the diversification of the economy of the Emirate , The two agreements were signed during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week at the World Future Energy Summit by H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Suwaidi, General Manager of ADDC, H.E. Abdullah El Sheryani, Acting Managing Director of Al Ain Distribution Company and H.E. Rashid Abdul Kareem Al Baloushi, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development. In the presence of H.E. Eng. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy & Industry, H.E. Eng. Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of the Department of Energy, H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Hajri, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development and Eng. Ahmed Hilal Al-Baloushi, Acting Executive Director of Industrial Development Bureau.
This initiative is part of the “Tarsheed” programme initiated by the government to improve electricity and water consumption efficiency across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The first phase will focus on six key industrial sectors of paper, building materials, cement, steel, plastics and food industries which together account for more than 75% of industrial electricity consumption excluding the oil & gas sector , Abu Dhabi Distribution and Al Ain Distribution Company will provide consultation to industrial facilities through reviewing consumption and production data and conducting field visits to study the operations in detail. Reports will be prepared for individual factories highlighting key areas for improvement, along with general reports for wider distribution that detail best practices for each manufacturing sector , The Industrial Development Bureau will facilitate workshops, development and awareness programs in cooperation with the two distribution companies, and will disseminate the best practices guide to support its industrial stakeholders.
