Heat Isolation
What is Thermal Insulation?
Thermal insulation is the use of material that has the property of preventing heat or reduce the heat transmission to the building in the summer season and preventing heat go out of the building in the winter. Heat that is penetrating buildings and maintain a suitable heat temperature which is useful for the A/Cs can be divided into three types as follow:
- Heat penetrating Wall and roofs.
- Heat through Windows.
- Heat lose through ventilation openings.
Heat that penetrating walls and roofs in summer days are estimated by 60-70-% of heat that comes into the house and you need to turn on the A/C to cool the place, other heat are coming through windows and ventilation openings . The consumed electrical power to cool the building in summer is about 66% of the total power. Hence the importance of the thermal insulation to reduce the energy consumed in cooling purposes and to prevent or reduce the escaping of heat through roofs , windows and walls to make your house cost effective and suitable for living.
The most important factors that affect the selection of thermal insulation material:
- Thermal insulation material should be with lower thermal conductivity.
- Thermal insulation material should have high resistance to water absorption.
- Thermal insulation material should be resistant to water
- Thermal insulation material should have a high resistance to radiation and water outflow.
- Thermal insulation material should have a high resistance to absorption of water vapor.
- Thermal insulation material should have a high resistance to problems resulting from big differences in temperature.
- Thermal insulation material should posses good mechanical properties such as high resistance to compression and coefficient of resistance to breakage.
- Thermal insulation material should be resistant to bacteria, mold and fire especially in places easily exposed to fireThermal insulation material should be dimension consistent on the long run and should posses fewer expanded thermal factor
- Thermal insulation material should be resistant to chemical reactions.
- Thermal insulation material should not cause any hurt or damager
Benefits of using Thermal insulation
- Saving of power consumption, as the scientific experiments has shown that, applying of thermal insulation at homes, governmental premises; commercial and industrial buildings shall reduce 40% of the consumed energy.
- Buildings shall retain a suitable temperature for a long time without a need to turn A/Cs on
- You can use A/Cs with small capacity , consequently you can reduce electricity consumption and cost
- Raising the comfort level inside the building for users.
- Reduce using of A/Cs at buildings consequently, you have less noise pollution from air conditioners and chiller rooms also from the noise penetrating from the outside.
- Thermal insulation Protecting and securing building from the climate change and weather conditions as it reduce the difference of temperature resulting from rising of temperature in the day time.
- Leads to reducing thickness of walls and cement roofs that are required to reduce heat transmission into the buildings
Secure distribution networks and power production stations.
Thermal Insulation windows
To ensure preventing heat escaping from buildings or entering into buildings , you should choose thermal insulation windows that ensure preventing of heat transfer and reduce the consumption of electrical power , The thermal insulation windows should have the below properties :
- Choose windows that can significantly contribute to a home's comfort and energy efficiency. By letting in sunlight and at the same time prevent heat from escaping.
- Consisting of delusive materials and transparent gases that that reflects 90% of the heat resulting from long waves and allowing the passage of short waves that make the natural lighting.
- Do not allow the passage of infrared rays that damage the furniture and curtains fibers.
- Use windows that are made from vynil which is resistant to temperature stresses, insects and infrared rays. And it does not need painting.
- Solar Heat Gain Coefficient should be less in windows so as to reduce the cooling capacity in summer times
